Anne Heemskerk is an intrepid versatile flautist player. Constantly exploring the horizons of music for the transverse flute, Anne performs on both modern and historical flutes with a strong attraction to chamber music.

When she discovered the wealth of historically informed performance with the copy of a baroque flute, Anne has been fascinated and specialised alongside orchestras on period instruments including Theresia Orchestra, Dunedin Consort, London Handel, Britten-Pears baroque orchestra, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.

She has appeared at festivals throughout Europe under the direction of Philippe Herreweghe, Christophe Coin, François-Xavier Roth, Jordi Savall, Laurence Cummings, John Butt, and others in concert halls such as Wigmore Hall, Philharmonie of Paris, Théâtre du Châtelet, Victoria Hall, Mumuth Theatre, La Monnaie Opera House.

Anne has MA degrees in modern and historical flutes from Royal Conservatoire of Brussels (distinction) and Haute École de musique of Geneva (highest distinction). During her master degree she also studied as part of the Erasmus programme at the Royal Academy of Music of London with Lisa Beznosiuk and Royal Conservatoire of Liege with Toon Fret.

Alongside many other inspiring teachers such as Baudoin Giaux, Jérémie Fèvre, Isabelle Bialek, Anne was very fortunate to study with the fantastic flautist Serge Saitta.

Through her musical journey, Anne developed a strong interest for educational and collaborative work between local professional musicians as well as amateurs and music lovers.

As a chamber musician, Anne recently crafted a series of projects to reflect on music transmission and performances. One of these projects includes a series of monthly music workshop located at Greenland Fishery House, a 17th century Grade II listed building in King's Lynn.

As for her love for performances, Anne enjoys to collaborate with Norfolk musicians and ensembles including Norwich Baroque, Norfolk Symphony Orchestra, Orpheus Flute Quartet, Ebb'und Fluth, pianist Loc-Mai Yuen, and composer, improviser and hurdy-gurdy player Stevie Wishart.

Nowadays, she shares her musical experience and insights in King's Lynn, UK, where she lives with her family, teaches, leads ensembles and performs.
